A Sunday Walk in the Peak District

The peak district is an area we dont venture to often despite that it is less than an hour away for us to access so the other weekend we decided to go to Langsett reservoir which sits above Ladybower reservoir. We arranged to meet some friends at 10.30am not too early not too late thinking it would be fairly quiet at this time but upon arriving we realised how wrong were as the car park was full lucily we managed to bag a spot just as someone was leaving as did our friends who arrived not long after is. I was apprehensive about the walk due to how busy the car park was but we got our boots on got the baby carrier sorted and put Coben in and secured him and off we went. Upon exiting the car park and walking down the main path towards the reservoir it was surprisingly quiet.

The morning started off great with the sun sneaking through the trees as we followed the path for a few miles we exited the trees and crossed a dam from here the track climbs steeply up onto the Moors and this is where the weather changed, the rain started and the wind picked up. After climbing the track for maybe 2 miles the wind picked up even more but on the plus side the views were opening up step by step.  After a few quick breathers to catch our breath and ensure the baby’s were wrapped up and warm enough we took a left hand path which descended down this was a rough track that took us back alongside the reservoir and back into the trees from here we wound our way through the rough paths in-between the trees  and which brought us out at a make shift stile which we all clambered over with care then followed the road up to the infamous cafe Bank View which is a shrine to The Tour De France which came past here in 2014. See HERE for more information. If your a biking fan mountain or road you must visit and take a look at all the memorabilia on show in there. Coffee and cakes were consumed as we watched  the rain get heavier outside but stayed warm and cosy in the cafe and glad we made the decision to get out and explore. Details of the walk can be found here.

‘Just Get outside ‘ You’ll always be glad you did and You’ll feel better for it. We guarantee it.
