Theoutdoorsfamilyuk rating 4/5 This is an ideal baby carrier walk or walk with older children starting at the market town of Grassington which is full of history from the Bronze age, Romans, Lead mining and farming. Its lovely cobbled square is the focal point of the town and most recently it has been made more famous from the filming of All Creatures Great and Small where upon walking round if you have watched the series you will recognise a lot of the buildings.
The walk follows the River Wharfe through fields and along woodland tracks before reaching the fascinating suspension bridge at Hebden and stepping stones. After a photoshoot on the bridge which is compulsory, you then work your way up to Hebden where you will find the Old School Tea rooms with a vast selection of drinks, cakes and ice cream. We recommend a visit. There’s also the bonus of a playground to entertain the kids.
Once refreshed you will follow paths through fields and meadows offering views of the valley below before bringing you back into Grassington where you can go for a browse of the shops and maybe another coffee you will be spoilt for choice.
